Kovero Inn

Kovero Inn is a former village school built in 1930, now offering accommodation for travellers and work groups in the idyllic village of Kovero. Ilomantsi is a 20-minute drive away, and Joensuu can be reached in 40 minutes.

The inn features five apartments of varying sizes, one of which also serves as a writer-in-residence studio. During the summer season, guests can also book a summer hut and even enjoy overnight accommodation on a sailboat. A wood-heated yard sauna is heated upon request, and a traditional lean-to shelter is available for guests to use.

The old barn houses a Field Hospital Exhibition commemorating the site’s wartime history. During the Second World War, the main building served as a hospital ward, while the older school building in the yard — dating back to the late 19th century — functioned as a field hospital.

Kovero Inn offers excellent year-round outdoor opportunities, including cross-country ski trails and nearby swimming beaches. Fishing guide services and ice-fishing trips are available, and guests can rent fat bikes and motorcycles.
